The new £10m University Technical College South Durham on the Aycliffe Business Park. The first UTC (University Technical College) to open in the North East, UTC South Durham in Newton Aycliffe specializes in advanced engineering and manufacturing, providing specialist education to young people aged 14-19 with ambitions to enter employment or higher education in these sectors. Here we were tasked with the complete electrical installation including general teaching areas and the engineering hall, with a 3-storey atrium capable of housing large vehicles. Particular challenges included were the suspended lighting system and extra heavy duty driver over floor boxes.
